Have you ever heard the calling
of a new beginning
or perhaps an awakening from
a slumber you hadn't realized you were in
You may have felt your heart
talk to you of staying where you are
where it's safe and warm
and familiar to you
But your soul whispered that
there is something you must do
someplace you must go
someone you must become
Does this yearning deep within you
ask you to let go of what you think you know
and welcome that which is yet to be known
into your heart and soul
And, does the prospect
of the wondrous possibilities
of such a metamorphosis
disturb yet exhilarate you
all at the same time
Have not your dreams
reached out with a guiding light
of what yet might be
for you in this time and place
Have not ancient memories converged
with the here and now
and speak to you of the future
as if it were all up to you
And, perhaps you've sensed
a song from the other side
vibrating within your being
whose words may feel like this
Listen, our child, there are lessons
you must know and have yet to learn
and they've always been within
your grasp and ability to understand
but it's also always been your decision
as to the when and the where
